Salida Arts & Culture Holiday Pop Up Shop Art Market

Join us for Salida Arts & Culture’s 6th annual Holiday Art Pop-Up Shop Art Market at the Salida SteamPlant Ballroom presenting high quality art and handmade products by local and regional artists! Art Matters:

FALL of FREEDOM is calling for artists to host events nationwide on Friday-Saturday 21-22 November. In response, the Museum of Authenticity is hosting ART MATTERS: the Thrill of Mutiny, the Power of Community, a grassroots event designed to acknowledge the value of creative self-expression and to celebrate the role the arts play in social change.

6-7pm: music: Buena Vista’s MACKLEROY & THE BODHIMANTRA, infectious guitar grooves and spirited West African beats

22 november saturday
noon-8pm: art exhibit: Chaffee County women artists: LANDSCAPES

1-1:30pm: presentation: Denverite LEON LOUGHRIDGE, master reduction block print artist: A Life in Woodblocks

2-3pm: panel discussion: Charting a new course through the arts

3:30-4:30pm: music: AUBREA ALFORD, Salida’s extraordinary genre-bending, classically trained, violinist and recording artist

5-6pm: reading: Salida writer-artist THORDIS NIELA SIMONSEN, stories from Dancing Girl and You May Plow Here that connect us to the land and to each other.

6:30-7:30pm: music: Buena Vista’s MACKLEROY & THE BODHIMANTRA, infectious guitar grooves and spirited West African beats

Rock & Roll Revival: A Coletrain Music Academy Rock Sessions Showcase

This summer, CMA Rock Sessions will light up The Velveteen’s Courtyard in downtown Salida—an awesome local venue with a real stage and the perfect vibe for kids to get comfortable, creative, and confident performing live. The session will culminate with a final showcase featuring students and teachers Zack Kochetta of Leadville Cherokee and Airing of Grievances, and Brandon Katz of The Chaffee Experiment.

Salida Songbirds: A Divas and Dreams Cabaret

Five powerhouse performers pay tribute to their favorite Broadway divas in this 75-minute showcase of unforgettable songs, backstage stories, and bold personalities. From iconic ballads to high-energy numbers, Divas and Dreams blends music, laughter, and a dash of diva drama as The Songbirds share what it means to dream big—and sing even bigger.

2nd Annual Salida Chalk Festival

Save the Date for the 2nd annual Salida Chalk Festival Saturday June 28! Artists transform downtown Salida into a giant outdoor gallery of colorful murals as artists create 6’ x 6’ temporary art works of chalk and pastel live during the festival. Apply as a Chalk artist! Selected artists receive stipend, lunch, artist T-shirt, 24 set of pastels. Presented by City of Salida, Arts & Culture Department Salida Creative District program and the Public Art Commission. FIRST FRIDAY Join us for First Friday Luau Night May 3 from 5pm to 7:30pm in the Salida Creative District! Galleries and creative businesses in downtown Salida’s historic downtown stay open late every first Friday of the month. From painting to sculpture, ceramics, photography, plein air, jewelry, and more, drop into one of Salida’s twenty+ art galleries and creative businesses where you can interact with the artist, ask questions, watch a demo and build your unique collection. Enjoy live music by Dave Tipton, themed refreshments, and a festive evening. Dress the theme if you like! Pick up a palette card at any participating gallery. Like a passport book, receive  a stamp at each gallery you visit. Redeem your palette card for an art mini! See individual galleries and businesses for their schedule of events.
