Lindsay Sutton-Stephens

Lindsay Sutton-Stephens is a Salida, Colorado-based contemporary folk artist whose work is deeply influenced by the people, places, stories, and creative energy of the community she has called home for 20 years.

A longtime artist and creative entrepreneur, Lindsay has spent two decades creating art, teaching classes, producing events, and contributing to Salida’s vibrant creative culture. Her work reflects a deep connection to place while embracing color, humor, memory, and the unexpected.

Since 2002, Lindsay has specialized in reverse-painted glass, creating another world through layers of acrylic, latex, and ink applied to the back of the glass. The process creates luminous color, depth, and movement, giving her contemporary folk art a distinctive visual language.

Her paintings explore the beauty and character of everyday life, from recognizable Salida icons and local characters to fleeting moments that might otherwise disappear. Twenty years of living and creating in Salida continues to provide an endless source of inspiration, and Lindsay remains interested in what happens when art, community, and place collide.
