When Sarah Anderson and Paul DeHaven met and began playing together in 2004\, they had no idea just how deep the well of their musical partnership would prove to be. After the disbanding of indie-folk sweethearts Paper Bird\, the duo founded Heavy Diamond Ring and never looked back. HDR is the culmination (thus far) of their signature sound\, a fountain of open-hearted\, folk-rock\, steeped in vocal harmony and group synergy. Led by Anderson’s smooth-as-honey vocals and DeHaven’s rugged guitar chops\, the band has been described as “open-road\, long drive music”\, having “a little bit of twang\, and a whole lot of beef”\, and their live show as “infectious and contagious”. The band is rounded out by veteran knockouts Blake Stepan (bass)\, Mike Lang (keys)\, and Orion Tate Ignelzi (drums). DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, August 17\, 2025\n​\n6:15pm-10:00pm\n​\nA Church 419 D Street Salida CO\n​\nDoors 6:15\nMusic 7:00\nTix $25.00 \nBeloved New Mexican Singer-Songwriter!\nFounder and Host of the Big Barn Dance Music Festival!\nIn addition to his extensive solo catalog\, he’s also recorded and toured as a duo act with Shake Russell\, and for the last two decades has hosted his own Big Barn Dance Music Festival in his beloved adopted hometown of Taos\, New Mexico!\nMichael Hearne’s destiny has been tangled in wire and wood since he first laid his hands on a guitar at the age of seven. With a natural ear for harmony and an aptitude for picking\, it wasn’t long before a young Michael Hearne was a fixture at parties and local events in his childhood hometown of Dallas. By the age of sixteen he had honed his skills on the guitar and\, without a doubt in his mind about his destiny\, he hit the road as a touring musician. Michael’s career over the next few decades would take him across the southwest and beyond. Calling the mountains of northern New Mexico home for many years\, Michael shared his talents as a singer\, songwriter\, and picker in bars\, listening rooms and dance halls throughout the region. In the 1980’s\, he toured as a member of Michael Martin Murphey’s band\, recording on Murphey’s 1982 self-titled album for Liberty Records. Hearne has penned songs for Jerry Jeff Walker and Gary P. Nunn (“Lesson to be Learned from Love”) and his New Mexico anthem\, “New Mexico Rain\,” was recorded by country music legend Johnny Rodriguez as well as by his uncle and aunt\, Bill and Bonnie Hearne. Michael has also co-written with Mentor Williams\, Andy Byrd\, Shake Russell\, Keith Sykes\, and many others. After hosting years of informal barn dances\, Michael officially began his Big Barn Dance Music Festival in Taos in 2003.

Bluegrass\, jazz and old-time music are all present here in their ways\, along with a dose of classical chamber music composition and arrangement\, as the members all draw from their wide array of musical loves\, experiences and influences. These influences boil down into the trio’s own organic sound of New Acoustic music\, or Modern String Band music\, or Chamber Grass (music is getting harder and harder to label these days\, isn’t it?). Whatever label you put on it\, it is guaranteed to be fresh and original\, and definitely something you’ve never quite heard before.

Featuring the world renowned storyteller John DeKadt (acolyte of the great Robert Bly) an evening with the ReMemberers offers up some of the most profound and enduring customs of being human: a story\, a song\, a heartbeat. \nEach member offers a distinctive sonic ingredient to the feast: \nAlex Harvey plays saz\, shakuhachi\, koncovka\, mandolin\, bouzouki and 12-string guitar \nViolet Southard sings and intones in English\, Spanish\, and Lakota \nJohn DeKadt spins story and plays cajón\, conga\, kanjira\, handpan\, and frame drum \nTogether\, they conjure a soundscape that moves fluidly from Sufi maqams to Appalachian laments to peyote chants to Leonard Cohen. The music\, like the myth\, is both rooted and untamed—woven in a shape that grows wild and quiet all at once.

NPR’s All Songs Considered described the band as “a reassuring breath of fresh air that pulls me back to simpler times.” The acoustic quartet – Andrew Sturtz [vocals\, guitar]\, Courtlyn Carpenter [cello\, harmonies]\, Will Kuepper [bass\, piano\, harmonies]\, and Jim Herlihy [banjo\, harmonies] – is serene and folksy\, with melodic vocals soaring over the lower string instrumentals. Sturtz released their second studio album\, Hyacinth\, in September\, and they’ve been touring on it ever since. Band Members Ariele Macadangdang\, Joy Adams\, and Bryan Dubrow originally met in the mid 2010’s and reunited in 2022 with ambitions to push themselves – and audiences – musically and emotionally.\nAs an “eclectic\, free spirited acoustic trio” Salomé Songbird’s sound “comes from each individual’s musical background blending together in sync.” Their professional histories span old time and bluegrass\, to jazz\, pop\, and death metal; members have performed with artists including Darol Anger\, Nathaniel Rateliff\, The Flobots\, Kygo\, Ben Folds\, and Dave Liebman. As a trio they channel this variety of influences into original music inspired by mental health\, religious trauma\, and cartoons.\nSalomé Songbird released their debut single “Jellyfish” in January of 2025.
