SUMMARY:Barefoot in the Park
DESCRIPTION:Barefoot in the Park is one of the most beloved comedies of Neil Simon. Newlyweds Corie and Paul Bratter are over the moon to begin their life together in their new apartment in Manhattan. It may be small and a six-flight climb\, the heating may be busted and snow may be falling through the skylight\, but nothing can quash their newlywed bliss. Paul is a straight-laced lawyer and Corie a romantic free-spirit; nevertheless\, opposites attract and the two are wild about each other. Corie decides to set her conservative widowed mother up with their eccentric\, bohemian neighbor. A wild night ensues\, one that highlights just how different Corie and Paul are. The young couple must learn how to accept and embrace their differences as they learn that marriage is no easy walk in the park. Don’t miss Salida Theater Projects new take on this classic farce.

SUMMARY:Still Alice - Presented by Salida Theater Project
DESCRIPTION:Alice Howland has a thriving career\, a loving family—and a life that suddenly begins to shift. \nAs memory fades and the ground moves beneath her\, Alice and her inner voice\, Herself\, hold on to what matters most. While those around her struggle to understand\, she meets each change with resilience\, flashes of humor\, and resolute strength. \nStill Alice is a powerful story about identity\, change\, and connection in the face of Alzheimer’s. It asks: how long are we still ourselves—and who decides? In the end\, as the past and future grow dim\, Alice and Herself turn fully to the present—because in the end\, it’s very simple: this moment—right here—is enough. \nDirected by Jan Justis and featuring a cast of actors from Salida and BV. \nAfter the Sunday matinee performance\, join us for a community conversation about Alzheimer’s\, caregiving\, and the themes explored in the play. Sunday attendees are welcome to stay for the panel\, and those who attended on Friday or Saturday are invited to return and take part in the discussion.\nOur panel includes:\n• Samar Fay – Salida resident whose spouse is living with Alzheimer’s\n• Mary McConathy\, RN – whose late husband lived with Alzheimer’s\n• Dr. Yvonne Rollins\, MD – Board Certified Neurologist\, Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center\n• Kirsten Wulfsberg\, LPC – Behavioral Health Regional Specialist

SUMMARY:SLACKERS AT THE STEAMPLANT PARTY featuring PAVEMENTS!
DESCRIPTION:SLACKERS AT THE STEAMPLANT PARTY featuring PAVEMENTS!\nFriday\, July 25 at 6:30pm\nSave the date and join us at the SteamPlant as Salida Arts and Culture presents a SLACKERS AT THE STEAMPLANT evening as we screen the revolutionary biopic PAVEMENTS about “the American indie band Pavement\, which combines scripts with documentary images of the band and a musical mise-en-scene composed of songs from their discography.” Written and directed by Alex Ross Parry.\n\nSynopsis:\nAn examination of the iconic 90s indie band\, “Pavements” appears to be just another music documentary\, until it doesn’t. A prismatic\, narrative\, scripted\, documentary\, musical\, metatextual  hybrid\, the film intimately shows the band preparing for their sold-out 2022 reunion tour while simultaneously tracking the preparations for a musical based on their songs\, a museum devoted to  their history and a big-budget Hollywood biopic inspired by their saga as the most important band  of a generation. Anchored by Pavement’s slacker-sage-sphinx Stephen Malkmus\, the film features performances by Joe Keery\, Jason Schwartzman\, Tim Heidecker\, Kathryn Gallagher\, Michael Esper\, and Zoe Lister-Jones\, as well as editing by nonfiction innovator Robert Greene (Procession). Unrated. 128 minutes.\n\n“I think they (Pavement) are the most fascinating text you can study if you want to study every single question about music in the 1990s\,” Alex Ross Parry\, New York Times article with David Renard\, May 18\, 2025\n\nSLACKERS AT THE STEAMPLANT:\n\nDress like a forgotten generation. 90’s fits like underground T’s and punk encouraged\, grunge tolerated. Take your shot at 90’s indie rock music trivia as you find your spot. Sit back in cushy seats like you just turned 50 and enjoy the screening. Then after the film\, stay for the Slacker Party on the SteamPlant Plaza with 90’s underground mixes by DJ Mike the Science Guy\, a Teenage Dirtbag slideshow featuring cameos by willing Salida Gen Xers\, and cynical snacks for all you latch key kids. Cash bar and realistic expectations available.\n\nEvent: PAVEMENTS Documentary + Slackers at the SteamPlant Party\nDate: Friday\, July 25\nDoors at 6:00pm\n90’s indie Trivia at 6:30pm\nFilm at 7:00pm- 9:08pm\nSlacker Party after film on the Plaza until 10:15pm.\nTickets| $15 on Eventbrite or at the SteamPlant Box Office 719-530-0933

Expect crafty songwriting\, spellbinding storytelling\, and some seriously witchy harmonies. \nGabrielle\, Caitlin and Emily have the Telluride Bluegrass Troubadour Contest to thank for their introduction. They connected via competing there on various years\, where they all placed – Emily Scott Robinson taking first in 2019\, and Gabrielle Louise and Caitlin Cannon taking 2nd and 3rd\, respectively\, in 2023. Come hear their award-winning compositions\, this time with the addition of their three-part harmonies supporting each other’s material. \nThis group of women has in common that they each take songcraft very seriously\, and their work presents with a rare focus and clarity of content. Musically speaking\, they occupy complimentary corners. Emily can bring you down a country road on one number\, then on the next Gabrielle will evoke a low-lit speakeasy or Caitlin will suddenly pull open the curtain on a comedy club. SUMMARY:Heavy Diamond Ring with opening act AJ Fullerton & Jake Freil
DESCRIPTION:Heavy Diamond Ring with opening act AJ Fullerton & Jake Freil\n\nFriday\, August 1\, 2025\n\n6:15pm-10:00pm\n\nA Church 419 D Street Salida CO\n\nClick here to purchase tix!\nDoors 6:15\nMusic 7:00\nTix $20 \nMODERN AMERICANA\nSome things are just meant to last. When Sarah Anderson and Paul DeHaven met and began playing together in 2004\, they had no idea just how deep the well of their musical partnership would prove to be. After the disbanding of indie-folk sweethearts Paper Bird\, the duo founded Heavy Diamond Ring and never looked back. HDR is the culmination (thus far) of their signature sound\, a fountain of open-hearted\, folk-rock\, steeped in vocal harmony and group synergy. Led by Anderson’s smooth-as-honey vocals and DeHaven’s rugged guitar chops\, the band has been described as “open-road\, long drive music”\, having “a little bit of twang\, and a whole lot of beef”\, and their live show as “infectious and contagious”. The band is rounded out by veteran knockouts Blake Stepan (bass)\, Mike Lang (keys)\, and Orion Tate Ignelzi (drums). Their second full-length LP\, “All Out of Angels”\, out this fall\, was produced by Ben Wysocki (the Fray) and Mark Anderson and features a duet with Nathaniel Rateliff.
